Tips-On-Tea Guide to Skin Care!

Facial creams, special soaps and body lotions may give you a temporary fix, but what about the long term? These products just help you mask the visible areas, sometimes making them worse. The proper way is to heal and cure imperfections using natural means and healthy meals! Here’s the Tipson tea guide on proper skin care!

Why beauty products aren’t the best

It could be intimidating to use off the shelf products to get rid of pimples or rashes on your skin after sitting through a beauty product commercial, but we often take action without even considering other options. Did you know that in the US, out of the 12000 odd chemicals the cosmetics industry uses currently, only a mere 9 were banned from use? Studies show that parabens and phthalates, both chemicals used widely in most beauty products for women, have irritative effects on human hormones. Consumers were also diagnosed with other health issues at times, all with no connections to any other known infections. Another intentional study by the FDA revealed that over 400 types of lipsticks had traces of lead in them. Reason for using lead is anyone’s guess and the effects on humans are unknown.

Know what you put on your body

When you know your cosmetics inside out, it’s easy to pick out the good ones and what works best for your sensitive skin. One of our best skincare tips is to study up on ingredients and better yet, stick to brands that create products specifically for sensitive skin. The result? Your skin stays feeling soothed and calm, plus you can feel confident you know exactly what’s going onto your skin. Plus, savvy shopping can help you do your bit for animals and the planet too!

Your phone can be your worst enemy

Yes, our phones are always on hand. But, they’re loaded with dirt, sweat and bacteria. So, if you constantly take calls, text and scroll through Instagram (follow us on on the regular, you may find that your jaw and cheeks can break out from touching your phone and face. Opt for earphones (so you can keep chatting), wash your hands regularly, and cleanse your skin as soon as you get home to banish those breakouts.

Healthy in, healthy out
The old saying “you are what you eat” could not be any truer! The food you eat is the only source of nutrients your body gets, and any inadequacy will take it out on your health and skin conditions. To help you track the inclusion of necessary nutrients in your meals, we have arranged a checklist below;

  • Eat at least 5 portions of fruits and vegetables everyday.
  • Avoid short term dieting, they almost never workout positive results and will save you from premature wrinkles and skin sagging.
  • Eat food with vitamins C and E. In a nutshell, oranges and nuts (preferably almonds).
  • Drink lots of water, at least 8 glasses a day. Nothing ruins your skin than dehydration!
  • Get some good fat in, the stuff present in fruits like avocados and omega 3 and 6 present in fish meat.

Keep Moving

Getting to the gym or doing a home workout can feel like the last thing you want to squeeze into your busy day. The bottom line is this: exercise increases blood flow, which helps maintain healthy skin cells. Happy skin cells = happy skin! You don’t even have to hit the gym. If it’s nice outside, do 30 minutes of yoga on your lawn. Or, take advantage of the summer weather and take a brisk walk in the warmer nighttime air with your kids or your dog.
